The Role
You will be part of the Integrated Workforce, Mid Wales who have a responsibility for the direct delivery of work on flood defence assets , in National Nature Reserves and in the Welsh Government Woodland Estate.
You will provide a maintenance service and deliver a capital work programme for NRW assets which will include Flood risk assets and NRW managed Land. You will provide an appropriate emergency response which will be required to be part of a standby rota and provide out of hours cover and have the ability to operate equipment such as hand-held tools which may include chainsaws and brushcutters. You will have the ability to operate as a banksman and slinger/signaller and understand technical and utility plans, operating in compliance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
You must have a full UK driving licence.
You will be required to operate machinery which may include HGV’s, heavy and specialised plant and equipment of a high value and you will have the appropriate licence to do so. (CPCS, LANTRA or equivalent recognised qualification)
Who you are – qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills required
Several years relevant operational experience
NVQ L2 Environmental Conservation or equivalent.
One or more of the following (to include evidence such as log book, completed workbook, specialist plans etc):
Intermediate chainsaw operative to include multiple windblown trees (include CS34 etc).
Winching operations.
Operator of specialist heavy plant & machinery. CPCS or other recognised licence.
Conservation Management knowledge and understanding.
Significant incident management experience: Flood/Industrial fire/oil spill/ silt management etc.
Intermediate ICT skills. E.g. AMX.
Full UK driving licence ideally to include cat B + E (trailer towing).
Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required for the role. GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential.
