We’re looking for anEnvironmental Advisor to join the Eastern England and Midlands region.

Contract:Permanent, full-time


Responsibilities

You will be part of a network of environmental professionals providing specialist environmental and sustainability advice and support with a specific focus on a large scale and complex projects. We need your skills to enable the development process. We want to ensure that environmental risks are identified early, and solutions integrated seamlessly into the project design and its construction. We also want to ensure that our customers benefit fully by deploying long-term sustainable solutions, considering development lifecycle, occupancy and climate resilience within our award-winning projects.


Within the role, you will support East and Midlands BU in delivering Kier’s Sustainability Framework and maintaining environmental compliance. The Framework is divided into the following elements: pollution prevention, responsible sourcing, carbon impact, avoidable waste and protection of biodiversity, all of which have objectives and targets which require ongoing focus / monitoring to ensure each is satisfied or exceeded. Project information will feed into this process to provide robust verifiable evidence that Kier are on target to meet each target. This information will also be used to support our pre-construction team with bids and identify applied best practice.


Your day to day will include:

  • Identifying environmental risks for the project design and construction
  • Provide environmental & sustainability advice
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and subcontractors to ensure long term sustainability solutions

Who are we looking for?

  • Ideally you will have experience from a similar role within the construction industry
  • Preferably a degree in an environmental or scientific discipline.
  • Preferably be Graduate or Associate IEMA or hold an equivalent level of membership with a relevant professional body.
  • Preferably knowledge of construction sustainability schemes such as BREEAM / CEEQUAL /LEED /WELL recommended
  • Have experience setting, measuring, monitoring and communicating environmental KPIs.
  • Have experience developing documents, procedures and forms that are consistent with the requirements of ISO 14001.
  • Internal ISO 14001 auditor experience would be advantageous.
