We are currently recruiting an Engineering Team Leader/Supervisor for our night shift (6pm-6am) on a 4 on/4 off basis at our Blackburn & Shadsworth bakeries.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an apprentice-trained, time-served multi-skilled engineer who has strong fault-finding skills. You’ll be PLC literate with basic online fault-finding abilities and at least 3 years of supervisory experience.

The machinery and equipment we have onsite include conveyors, sealers, weighers, metal detectors, depositors, mixers and cutters. An ability to service and maintain a number of these is highly advantageous, however, we wouldn’t expect you to be an expert in all areas.

This shift pattern will be nights only (6pm-6am) on a 4 on/4 off basis across a 7-day working week.

The role of an Engineering Team Leader/Supervisor at BBF

  • Working shift patterns as defined by the needs of the business and as part of the maintenance team.
  • First line manager for 2 shift Engineers.
  • Attend cross-functional shift review & handover meetings, accountable for delivering assigned actions as required.
  • Plan & prioritise work to minimise machinery downtime ensuring maximum use of resources.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities with the shift team to ensure production disruption is minimised/avoided.
  • Coach, develop and lead shift engineers to establish a culture that supports best-in-class practices.
  • Own levels and accuracy of downtime recording to develop target areas for further analysis.
  • Continuously identify ways to reduce costs, improve standards & efficiency in all areas, ensure Engineering management systems & procedures are followed in all areas of responsibility.
  • Achieve set GMP targets for Engineering areas.
  • Ensure company & statutory regulations/guidelines are followed.
  • Build a close relationship with operations team leaders working as one team to deliver world-class manufacturing.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating high standards of behaviour, honesty & integrity - develop & support people.
