About the Role

Here at DS Smith we are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Managerfor our site in Hinkley, Leicestershire. As part of the position you will play a key role in delivering tactical and strategic projects within Engineering that contribute towards the site business targets. You will commit to meet our internal and external customer expectations, whilst maximising and continuously improving operational efficiencies and minimising costs. You will be responsible for the management, motivation and development of the site Engineering Department and have full accountability for the Engineering function of all equipment at site.

Within this role you will be responsible for driving compliance of HSER standards, and the comprehensive management of the shift based team and days based team; including training & development and performance management. Your key focus will be the effective running of the Engineering Service function, making appropriate decisions for the downtime of critical plant to allow engineers to assess the status of equipment. You will also proactively manage the development and ongoing review of the maintenance program and systems by developing measures and tracking KPIs for the engineering function

Critical to success in this role is an open mind and the ability to continually understand, embrace and develop new methodologies and ways of working with a proactive approach to change management.

A fundamental part of the role will be focussed on moving Engineering practices at site from a reactive state to pro-active state. Experience in leading and engaging Engineering teams through transformational change is therefore seen as advantageous.

About you

Minimum requirements:

· Degree educated or hold an equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline

· Significant experience in engineering management positions with demonstrable competencies in leadership and organisational management

· Experience in the development, management and reporting of revenue and capital budgeting

· Sound knowledge of a manufacturing environment and continuous improvement tools is essential

· Competent in the use of Microsoft Office

· Working knowledge of SAP systems

· Proven track record of performing at a high level in a customer centric commercial environment

· Ability to make decisions in pressured situations

· Strong people development skills with the ability to build strong, lasting relationships
