Engineering Manager

Salary £75k - £85k plus benefits, Kirkham, North West

If you are keen in playing your part to shape a business - this engineering role is a pivotal role to the change agenda. As the Senior Engineering lead on site, you will have a key role in the management team, advising operations and supply chain on the drivers for performance and the investment needed to implement change. Working externally with contractors and internally shaping the engineering team to drive a continuous improvement manufacturing facility.

This is a leadership role managing the engineering team and capex budgets. The site makes market leading products and needs to develop its equipment to sustain the customer service and efficiency levels. It’s a real time of change with some great opportunities.

As Engineering Manager - the main elements of the role are:

  • Own the Engineering plan and budget.
  • To keep the Leadership Team updated on the critical plan for capex and projects.
  • Heading up the team consisting of Maintenance managers, Engineering services manager and a large team of engineers with an apprenticeship structure in place.
  • Developing an Engineering team that works cohesively with the Operations team and has joined up measurement targets to ensure a ’one team’ approach.
  • Improving performance and driving a right first-time culture.
  • Strong communication is vital in this role to ensure everyone in the engineering team fully understands their accountabilities.
  • Working cross functionally so as a team, we can achieve the overall business goals.
  • Appraise the engineering structure and ensure it continues to deliver and support the operations team.
  • As a member of the Senior Team you are key contributor to the overall site performance.
  • Ensuring the team embrace a proactive approach through the PPM system and consistently collaborating with operations to plan ahead and avoid major issues.

  • Proven ability and experience in the development of engineering teams.
  • Able to make decisions and keep others informed in time focused environments.
  • Proven Senior engineering management background, leading teams and projects in the Food industry is essential.
  • Significant experience in the food industry to understand how essential operational efficiency and customer targets are.
  • Clear and positive leadership style.
  • Project Management experience on capital expenditure projects.
  • Experienced in engineering key metrics
