About the Role

Wessex Internet are excited to be offering an Engineering Manager position within our Network Delivery Team. This role involves carrying out fibre splicing and customer installations across our network. With all network build in house, our Splicing Engineers cover newly built and existing network across areas of proprietary and to a growing extent PIA. Separately, but working closely with the Splicing Team, the Install Engineers carry out FTTH customer installs as part of the Service Delivery Department. The successful candidate will oversee the management of both of these teams. They will need to have a depth of experience in fibre network splicing, testing and commissioning, people management and be a methodical problem solver.

Responsibilities Include

• Day to day management of the in-house engineering teams of Splicing and Installation Engineers
• Driving best practice throughout the engineers, including the carrying out of quality assurance processes
• Working with the Technology and Design Departments in order to identify and adjust core and distribution routes
• Carrying out and overseeing emergency and scheduled maintenance/upgrades across the Wessex Internet fibre network
• The technical oversight of Service Delivery Engineers (operations management carried out by Service Delivery dispatch)
• Monitoring and driving team KPI’s in order to meet company targets
• Managing team training and accreditations
• Ensuring adherence to all relevant Health & Safety legislation

Key Skills

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Line management and operations experience
• Lengthy hands-on fibre splicing and engineering experience
• Ability to work on own initiative with strong organisational skills
• Must hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months.

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (DOE)

Hours: 45 hours per week

Location: Field and Office Based, Nr Blandford Forum, Dorset with company vehicle

Required licence or certification: Driving Licence

Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
