Job Summary:

As a Mechanical Design Student, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to various aspects of mechanical design projects. In addition to working with Siemens NX CAD Software and focusing on 2D drawings, user interface design, 3D, sheet metal, and plastic design, you will also be involved in project management and general office work. This role offers a well-rounded experience that combines technical design skills with organizational and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the design team to create and modify mechanical designs using Siemens NX CAD Software.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of 2D drawings and user interface designs.
  • Contribute to the creation of 3D models and assemblies, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
  • Support the design team in developing sheet metal and plastic designs.
  • Conduct research and analysis to optimize designs and identify potential improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate designs into larger systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and presentations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in mechanical design software and techniques.
  • Adhere to project timelines and deliver high-quality work within given deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring the security and confidentiality of design data.

Requirements:

  • Enrolment in an accredited mechanical engineering or related program, preferably in the final years of study.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD Design, Siemens NX Preferred but similar software considered.
  • Solid understanding of 2D drawings and user interface design principles.
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge in 3D, sheet metal and plastic design.
  • Familiarity with engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and design for assembly.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and design methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience or coursework in mechanical design or related fields.
  • Proficiency in additional CAD software programs, such as SolidWorks, Inventor or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Familiarity with project management concepts and tools.
