JOB DESCRIPTION

A new opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Coordinator to join part of NNB’s Engineering Directorate to work on a day to day basis on site with NNB’s Joint Design Office. The Hinkley Point C Project is split into programmes aligned to either plant islands or disciplined based scope. Each programme will be delivered in part by EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB) resources and in part through one or more (interrelated) major contracts. Based at HPC the focuses on managing the review and acceptance of design packages released for construction and the management of changes to the design requested during the construction phase of the works.

Job description:



As a Coordinator, you will assist the JDO in monitoring and ensuring delivery on all open points and construction changes within their designated area. You will be reporting to the Nuclear Island Area Engineering Manager you will work closely with the Designer and Construction team to ensure compliance with the project schedule.

Working as part of the Joint Design Office (JDO) you will:

  • Attend readiness reviews of Design Packages released for construction as and when required by design owners.
  • Identify issues that could affect Nuclear Safety, ensuring that processes comply with project quality procedures.
  • Coordinate a building to have all of the design and construction change finalised in due time for the construction need.
  • Ensure processes comply with project quality procedures.
  • Work closely with the Design teams, Contractor and Construction teams to maintain technical quality of responses (content / consistency / comprehensiveness / accuracy), construction programme and construction safety.
  • Actively report to the Area Engineering manager on risks and interfaces (technical and functional) and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to have the ability to work independently and be proactive,

  • Under broad supervision plan effective implementation; identifying, tracking and managing the appropriate route to achieve critical tasks and deliverables.
  • You will have experience in design, drafting and/or construction, excellent communication/interpersonal skills, presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
  • Good technical knowledge and an ability to work with minimal supervision (technical or managerial), pragmatic and practical approach to issue management with strong compliance to procedures.

Skills required:

Degree qualified or equivalent experience in an Engineering Discipline (preferably Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) is essential.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvements in information management and manipulation.
  • Knowledge of presentational techniques and solid experience in the design of a variety of Civil works.
  • Understanding of Contract Management, particularly NEC, CDM Regulations, maintain accurate and timely records (whether systems, databases, spreadsheets)
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvements to procedures processes and/or systems, able to resolve straightforward issues of low complexity/risk in own technical discipline/area.
