Job Description

  • Manage the operation of the engineering department and external contractors to provide timely repair and maintenance solutions for the business.
  • Prioritise the daily, weekly, monthly and annual department workload. Ensure that the Engineering plan is communicated to all relevant people.
  • Assess all situations concerning machinery, buildings and the site and in the first instance make a decision based on your knowledge and understanding before referral to immediate manager. Provide technical support and root cause analyses on corrective maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure that equipment is repaired and maintained to achieve optimal production efficiency, whilst maintaining safety standards.
  • Development and implementation of continuous improvements for the building and machinery.
  • Develop relationships with all internal areas of the business through continued contact and communication.
  • Develop relationships with Suppliers and contractors.
  • Budget preparation for all areas of responsibility and monitoring of spend, including overtime and shift resourcing.
  • Identify Capex proposals for submission and implement signed off projects to completion. This will include new and used equipment installations, building upgrades etc.
  • Identify training needs of reporting staff to ensure that all team members have the necessary skills to perform effectively and safely.
  • Ensure Health & Safety measures are identified, maintained and developed for the site and department in conjunction with QHSE Manager.
  • Lead emergency procedures. (E.g., fire response).
  • Assistance with energy projects; project scoping, budgeting, planning and implementation.
  • On call for the site when required.

The Successful Applicant

Experience of relevant machinery and building maintenance management (relevant technical skills and qualifications required) City & Guilds, Electrical, Mechanical, SVQ3, 18th Ed, SJIB

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

  • Methodical, logical approach to problem solving (creative thinking)
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers and contractors and internal staff at all levels
  • Ability to work independently within set parameters
  • Effective time management
  • IT skills as required
  • Ability to work with varying work demands

What’s on Offer

Excellent Salary £42K - £45K

35 Hour working week Monday - Friday
