The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Electrician to join our team based in the south side of Glasgow. The position is based in our Facilities department, with a remit to maintain, repair and install electrical network systems throughout the facility as well as assist & support in the administrative daily operation within the Facilities office.

This is predominantly a Monday to Friday days-based role with some out of hours work required to meet business needs. The successful applicant will be the primary point of contact for all electrical maintenance and repair across the factory. They will be working alongside the in-house facilities team as well as our trusted external partners to ensure the continued smooth running of our factory.

Role Description

  • Adhere to and continuously improve on safety practices for all activities that are carried out.
  • Support all office activities, contractor liaison, admin/document control, purchase orders and covering for the Facilities Manager as required.
  • Developing maintenance practices to reduce downtime, increase efficiency and reduce waste and costs.
  • Forward planning of PPM activities ensuring adequate allocation of resources are available ahead of work beginning.
  • Perform critical reviews of site assets and systems.
  • Install cabling & electrical equipment for IT, Facilities and Maintenance purposes, in line with company’s installation standards i.e., tidiness, appropriate labelling, updated records etc.
  • Working with the team and taking direction from the departmental manager to ensure efficient and effective working.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of all current electrical and safety regulations and always adhere to these.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of all equipment within the plant and facilities, keeping abreast of any additions to plant or improvements to electrical systems.
  • Maintain and replenish stock list of critical parts and sundries ensuring compatibility of products where appropriate.

Essential/Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Time Served Electrician with recognised 4-year apprenticeship including Inspection and Test.
  • Experience of maintaining and repairing electrical systems within an industrial factory environment.
  • Display effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Participate in and understand Continuous Improvements activities, knowledge of 5S or lean principles is advantageous.
  • Be flexible, dependable, and willing to compromise and work alongside the needs of other colleagues and contractors.

Desirable

  • PAT tester certificate
  • IPAF, or equivalent certificate
  • PASMA
  • Forklift Truck certificate
  • Experience with Fire and Intruder Systems, weekly testing & isolations etc.
