Here at Serco we are looking for a qualified Electrician to provide specialist electrical expertise and guidance to the operation; to carry out preventative and reactive maintenance activities to items of electrical plant and equipment as may be defined and specified. The role is a key supporting function in the challenging environment of a secure establishment. The role calls for excellent communication skills, leadership and setting visible standards of personal performance and accountability and the post holder is expected to function with a degree of independence.

You will carry out fault finding and defect rectification to items of electrical plant and equipment and carry out investigations into the performance of the plant and equipment installed in the site and produce related reports and recommendations as may be required

You will assist the other members of the maintenance team with their activities as will be required and be a team member of the Facilities “Out of hours” call out roster.

What You Need To Do The Job

You must have a C & G Electrical Certificate or other electrical trade qualification and must be qualified to BS7671. You must also have served a recognised trade apprenticeship and have at least 5 years associated trade experience post apprenticeship.

Lastly, due to the nature of the environment a CRB Clearance and Security Clearance at CTC level (Counter Terrorism Check) is required (Serco Civil Government is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).

  • Out of Hours Working*

    In order to provide a fully compliant service, there may be a requirement to be on-call outside of normal working hours, as per an agreed roster and in accordance with local Serco processes.
