We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to be based at our Hartlebury site in Kidderminster.

Our Role

This role will involve all aspects of trouble shooting, problem solving and project work. You will be required to look for and implement continuous improvements individually and as part of a team. In addition, you will also be required to plan and carry out preventative maintenance in order to ensure a high standard of plant maintenance is always achieved. You will be required to assist in all maintenance activities on site, to ensure factory production budgets are met or exceeded. The successful candidate will be working as part of the maintenance team ensuring that all electrical plant equipment is operating efficiently with the minimum amount of downtime and in a safe order and will be required to contribute to the application of 5’s and other lean manufacturing principles within the factory. You will also be required to adhere to strict health and safety requirements at all times.

What You’ll Do
  • Install and or maintain all electrical & electro-mechanical plant or machinery in line with Company requirements
  • Operate a preventative electrical maintenance system to ensure that the plant & machinery are in good working order
  • Fault find and repair any electrical or electro-mechanical related problems on the plant or equipment
  • Program all Siemens & other PLC equipment
  • Use various types of testing equipment in order to locate and remedy faults in the shortest possible time
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good working and clean condition
  • Assist with the installation of new plant equipment
  • Order and collect spares and electrical materials for new and existing plant in keeping with the required standards
  • Maintain and monitor the machines and equipment to enable them to achieve their budgeted outputs at the required quality levels
  • Ensure that your work/stores area is kept clean and free from obstructions and waste, maintaining a good standard of general housekeeping
  • Complete all relevant paperwork associated with the task you are performing in a timely and accurate manner
  • Report any problems regarding equipment and machinery immediately to the Team Leader on shift
  • Ensure that you are aware of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and that you adhere to them at all times
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation with colleagues
  • Promote Lean thinking and actively look for ways to improve your efficiency
  • Take care of equipment used while performing the job
  • Cooperate with supervision and fellow employees
  • Actively take part in any training requested to enhance your role
  • Safely carry out all manual handling in the correct and trained manner
  • Work safely and follow all safety rules at all times
  • Perform other duties as required by your line manager
  • Accurately report on the work that you have carried out on the relevant paperwork
  • Constantly watch for wear and tear on machinery and correct or inform the line manager and report on the relevant paperwork
  • Be available for call out duties in the event of a plant breakdown
  • Ensure you have a very good working knowledge of all plant equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure that you are adequately trained to run the equipment after servicing or maintenance in order that the production personnel are able to start & run the equipment without further modifications or adjustments.
  • Actively contribute to the creation and review of RA and SSOW
  • Promote the quality of our products at all times
  • Be aware of the effect that maintenance changes can have on product quality
  • Ensure adherence to Wienerberger’s quality system & standards in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001
  • Ensure that all quality issues are dealt with immediately as per agreed procedures
  • Ensure conformity and safe working practices in accordance with the Company’s health, safety and environment procedures
  • Carry out regular housekeeping spot checks
  • Report any accidents immediately to your line manager and take corrective actions
  • Carry out risk assessments and liaise with HS&E department where necessary
  • Attend Health & Safety meetings if required
  • Be a health & safety advocate for the Company promoting health & safety at all times
  • Ensure availability and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the appropriate areas
  • Refer any concerns / near misses to the EHS Manager
What You’ll Bring
  • Electrical engineering or similar apprenticeship with relevant experience is essential
  • ONC/BTEC – HNC/BTEC or equivalent in Electrical engineering
  • 17th / 18th edition qualified
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment is essential; ideally heavy manufacturing (clay, refractory, quarrying, cement) or FMCG
  • Good communicator with team skills
  • Sound knowledge of Siemens PLC’s – s7 TIA portal
  • Excellent analytical & fault finding / problem solving skills
  • Good knowledge of electric motors / pneumatics
  • Good sound mechanical skills
  • Working within a multi skilled team
  • Experience of working in a Safety-First culture
  • Ability to work on one’s own and make necessary judgments
Hours of Work: 6.00am – 6.00pm / 6.00pm – 6.00am (rotating 12 hour shifts - days and nights) on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern
