A genuine opportunity for you to have full autonomy for our Electrical Design & Controls Engineering. You’ll need to be commutable to Heywood, Lancashire and be interested in joining a market leader in the development or special purpose packaging machinery.

BASIC SALARY: Up to £50,000

JOB DESCRIPTION: Electrical Design & Controls Engineer – packaging machinery

You will lead the electrical design and programming of our special purpose machinery. This is a genuine opportunity for you to be involved in the full project life cycle from the client design meeting, specification, design layout, through to machine build and programming and machine test.

Occasionally, you will need to go on site to assist with the on site installation, commissioning and testing of finished machines and FAT to assist our field Engineers

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Electrical Design & Controls Engineer – packaging machinery

  • You’ll attend original design meetings, compile electrical specifications for our special purpose machines. That will include: PLC hardware, sensors, circuit breakers & motor control circuits.
  • You’ll oversee the procurement of parts and the electrical design to include the general layout schematics and associated cable diagrams using Solid Works Electrical 3D – we can teach you this software if needed
  • You’ll indirectly oversee the panel build & electrical assembly in our work shop
  • Then you will program the finished machine from scratch or modifying the existing code, HMI and servo-drives
  • Lastly you will write or edit the user manuals (templates already in place for our existing machines)

YOUR BACKGROUND: Electrical Design & Controls Engineer – packaging machinery

  • You MUST have previous practical experience in electrical control panel design & specification and have programmed PLC’s from scratch for special purpose machinery
  • Allen Bradley or Omron experience is preferred but we wouldn’t say no to your experience of Siemens S7 if you want to develop
  • If you already have experience of using Solid works Electrical 3D – then great

We are now the largest UK manufacturer of the machines that we develop.

It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: electrical design, Controls Engineer, PLC, Software Engineer, PLC Programmer, Automation Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, special purpose machinery, capital equipment, Allen Bradley, siemens, packaging machinery, Process machinery, PPMA, omron, scada.
