We are looking for an Elective Home Education Coordinator to join our team at a time of exciting and positive change.

As an Elective Home Education Coordinator for Achieving for Children, you will be responsible for:
  • Maintaining and monitoring the elective home education database and records.
  • Responding sensitively and effectively to families who may be considering elective home education.
  • Consulting and advising with schools and parents on elective home education in line with DfE guidelines.
  • Ensuring that all referrals, paperwork are processed in accordance with EHE procedures.
  • Provide specialist support for RBWM Gypsy Roma and Traveller community promoting positive links and relationships.
  • Advising and supporting partner agencies and families around the EHE process.
  • To ensure practice is compliant within DfE guidance and expectation.
  • To conduct home visits to families who have elected to home educate where appropriate.

About

To be Elective Home Education Coordinator for AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as being able to
  • Process referrals from schools, other LA’s and parents when a parent/carer makes the decision to electively home educate their child.
  • Ensure the EHE database is regularly updated and monitored.
  • Contact all parents/carers when making the decision to home educate and ensure all the relevant guidance and information is provided.
  • Provide specialist support for RBWM Gypsy Roma and Traveller community promoting positive links and relationships.
  • Act as the main contact for RBWM schools in relation to Elective Home Education and the Gypsy, Roma, Traveller communities.
  • Regularly monitor EHE proposal forms.
  • Create a strong working relationship with and between Education Welfare team and Specialist Teacher Service.
  • Monitor the EHE email address and respond to queries accordingly.
  • Build strong working relationship with local schools and offer support and advice around the EHE process.
  • Organise and attend meetings with schools and parents/carers where the family are considering to electively home educate their child.
  • Monitor children who return to school after a period of being electively home educated through communication with admissions team and schools.
  • Link with social care and early help colleagues where appropriate.
  • Ensure practice is compliant within DfE guidance and expectations and respond to COVID guidance.
  • Arrange and attend home visits to families.
  • Build strong relationships with families and provide advice and support.
