Job Summary
Avantor Services offers a wide range of laboratory support services designed to save our customers time and money. These services range from centralised glass washing to lab technician activities, materials and lab management. However, they all share a central theme in supporting our customers and allowing them to recover valuable time to increase the productivity of their business.

Avantor Services has over 1000 employees globally and we currently have an opening for a Health and Safety (EHS) professional to join our service and provide specialist support to Avantor Services associates located on customer sites in the UK, Ireland and Sweden.

You have a chance to join a fast-paced organisation as Head of Health and Safety UK supporting employees across 17 UK sites, so the ability to travel is essential.
What you’ll do on a day to day basis:

  • Implement and maintain the EHS Management systems across multiple UK customer sites
  • Ensure the business is compliant to current legislation and regulations
  • Consult on risk assessments (planning, implementation, and operations) for Avantor Services Sites
  • Develop and implement a Health and Safety strategy and site specifc improvement plans
  • Drive and support a positive and proactive culture and improve safety behaviours
  • Carry out Accident & Incident investigations, ensure all corrective, preventative actions are put in place and share learnings across organisations
  • Liaise with customers when EHS incidents occur – develop good working relationships with on-site EHS teams
  • Develop an Avantor Service UK Health and Safety network
  • Lead Health and Safety meetings
  • Develops, maintains and co-ordinates the audit set up for all UK sites
  • Source external companies to conduct training and enable a point of contact for each training need
  • Works in close cooperation with European EHS Manager
What you’ll need to be successful

  • Proven Leadership qualities and ability to engage, motivate and develop a team
  • IT proficient (Microsoft Word/Excel)
  • Data handling, results analysis and interpretation capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a Health and Safety role
  • Experience of producing technical reports and presentations to meet customer requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar role in pharma and/or service provision environment is highly desirable - ideally multi-site
  • Qualification in occupational health and safety, such as NEBOSH National Diploma/NCQ Diploma is essential
  • GRAD IOSH status is essential
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, production, distribution, analysis laboratories and services businesses general and chemical industry
  • A full driving license
