Loop Publishing is looking for a highly-efficient, well-organised and enthusiastic Editorial Assistant to join its busy team. Collaborating closely with senior members of the team, the editorial assistant will write copy, research and offer editorial support across all Loop platforms.
The role of Editorial Assistant is varied (incredibly) and exciting (absolutely mind-blowing). You will be working on different resources depending on the needs of our clients and our wider team. You’ll help to shape our content strategy, be responsible for the creation of articles, feature ideas, digital content, publications and much more. You will also have the creative freedom to shape the content and suggest new ideas.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the editorial team in defining a strong, multimedia editorial offering for Loop’s publications -Northern Life, Family magazine, Colne Life, Craven and Valley Life
The ability to research and transcribe interviews, as well as write and edit short copy
Create Product showcases online and in print
Keep abreast of global and local events, forthcoming projects and new talent
Assist the Managing Editor with the daily running of the editorial department
Be able to take a ‘reet good picture’
Researching industry-related topics and suggesting ideas for content
Writing clear marketing copy to promote our services
Use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic
Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone)
Support the wider marketing team
Source images
Above all, a calm attitude and a can-do mentality
Ability to manage heavy workloads and prioritise appropriately to meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of cultural trends and social movements, and the ability to harness their editorial instinct to generate content appropriate for Northern Life online.
An exceptional writer of both editorial and marketing copy
Understanding of social networks and their functionalities and experience of managing social media
Acute attention to detail
Excellent communication, presentation and creative writing skills.
A high level of initiative and the confidence to ask for support when required
