The School of English is seeking to appoint an Editorial Assistant to support the work of Shakespeare Bulletin, the journal of early modern performance studies, which is based in the School under the editorship of Dr Peter Kirwan.

This is a part-time post (7.25 hours per week), fixed term from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022 and is funded by John Hopkins University Press. The post will be based in the School of English, and can accommodate a flexible working pattern, with hours of work to be agreed with the Editor.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the workings of a major journal and to support cutting-edge research in the discipline.

We are seeking applications from candidates whose background, experience and identity broadens and enhances the diversity of our existing team. The successful candidate will have research expertise in early modern performance studies. Experience of editing other scholars’ work and/or of social media management would be an advantage.

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) either completed or near to completion, in early modern performance studies or an equivalent relevant area.

Our staff body is currently under-represented in terms of Black, Asian and minority ethnic members, and so we would particularly welcome applicants from these backgrounds.
