Focus Birmingham is a leading charity in Birmingham and we are seeking Drivers to join the Transport department.

20 hours per week - Monday - Friday - Shifts patterns are approx. 7:30am - 9:30am and 3:00pm - 5:00pm

To drive the organisation’s minibuses and vehicles within the city to enable Service Users to attend the Elizabeth Gunn Day Centre and provide other organisational transportation needs with the following key areas of responsibility

Health and Safety*

  • Ensuring that your vehicle is safe to drive and that all vehicle checks are completed on a daily basis.
  • Ensuring H&S regulations are adhered to at all times relating to the safe transportation of our clients ie clamping, seatbelts, tail-lift, emergency medical and health conditions.
  • Ensuring safe access when parking to collect/drop off our Service Users.

Transport quality service

  • To remain in contact with Fleet Co-Ordinator and be responsive to changes within the department.
  • To monitor timetables and keep the Fleet Co-Ordinator informed if regular difficulties arise as well as recommending improvements.
  • To maintain a professional “front of house” manner at all times, to ensure the reputation of Focus Birmingham.

Transport Maintenance

  • To drive a minibus in a careful and correct manner adhering to highway regulations ensuring Service Users needs and comforts are met at all times.
  • Ensure that Daily, weekly and monthly checks are actioned in a timely manner and communicated via documentation to the Fleet Co-Ordinator.
  • To assist the Service Users, entering and exiting the vehicle including wheelchairs via the accessible lift whilst ensuring the clients safety and comfort at all times.
