Principle Objective:
Main responsibilities will be the provision of a timely, friendly and dependable delivery service to our customers and the upkeep of the yard area. Act as ambassador of the PDM Buildbase business, working as part of a team ensuring that our customers’ expectations are not just met, but exceeded.
Key Responsibilities:
To:
  • Ensuring that customers are served promptly and efficiently at all times, building effective working relationships with customers.
  • Provide an efficient, timely and dependable delivery service.
  • Responsible for ensuring all orders are correctly loaded onto the delivery vehicle in line with health and safety procedures and proper documentation is completed prior to departure in order that goods can be tracked.
  • Ensure that delivery notes have correct signatures and COD deliveries are collected as per company policy.
  • Ensure that the van/lorry/forklift is driven and maintained in an appropriate and courteous manner and in line with legislation, health and safety guidelines and company policy.
  • Report any vehicle or forklift defects immediately to line/branch manager.
  • Receive and check off deliveries to the branch, highlighting any anomalies and ensuring secure, correct and timely storage of such deliveries in line with health and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure that the yard is kept tidy at all times, that stock is clearly identifiable and low stock levels highlighted to branch management where necessary.
  • Assist with picking and loading of company vehicles on an as and when basis.
  • Ensure that tally systems/paperwork and policy are used at all times thus actively safeguarding against theft of goods or company property by being security conscious.
  • Work and communicate as a team member to ensure the branch operates efficiently and effectively within company policy.
  • Perform any other duties as may be deemed necessary or as may be required by the company.

Measurements of Success:
  • Deliveries completed on a timely basis.
  • Routine checks and defect reports are maintained accurately.
  • Good route execution thus reducing mileage and fuel costs.
  • The appearance of self and vehicle are pristine at all times as the driver acts as ambassador for the branch and the company.
  • Maintain a faultless driving record whilst performing company duties.
  • Ensures a clean and tidy environment that fully complies with health and safety requirements/regulations.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent and up-to-date product knowledge.
Other Important Information
  • Should be prepared to use initiative when delivering orders to ensure that the customers’ needs are met whilst not compromising health and safety regulations.
  • Must be tidy and organised.
  • Should be willing to be flexible in duties undertaken e.g. trade counter sales duties as and when required.
  • Must be prepared to fully support the Branch at the twice-yearly stock-take
