Personal Assistant Job Description

Job Title: Personal Assistant.

Hours of Work:
8 hours per week.

Tuesday Evening - hours between 4pm to 8:30pm.

Thursday Evening - hours between 4pm to 8:30pm.

Additional hours may be requested from time to time to provide cover for my other PA.

Rate of Pay: £8.91 per hour.

Pen Picture of the Person Requiring Assistance:

I am a woman living in the Neath area with my family and two daughters. I am visually impaired and currently on the list to get another guide dog soon. Family is important to me and I like taking my daughters to a range of different activities. I am looking for a PA to undertake tasks on a Tuesday evening and also work additional hours when my current PA is on leave. They will need to be able to drive and own their own car.



Tasks Include:
  • Help to take my daughters to activities.
  • Help with shopping.
  • Undertake light cleaning
  • Provide cover for my other PA occasionally
  • Any other reasonable duties

Additional hours –
  • Help to make meals.
  • Sorting clothes and washing.
  • Assist me with my daughters.
  • Driving me to and from appointments.
  • Take me to the gym/leisure activities.


Personal Qualities and Attributes required:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Friendly.
  • Good with children.
  • Able to come in close contact with dogs and be okay with them going in their car when travelling.
  • Someone supportive who will work with me to be as independent as possible without taking over.
  • Car driver is essential




Additional Information:

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
