Personal Assistant Job Description

Job Title: Personal Assistant.

Hours of Work:
6 hours a week.

Tuesdays 8am to 2pm

Hours may vary and additional cover hours may be offered from time to time.

Rate of Pay: £8.91 per hour.

Pen Picture of the Person Requiring Assistance:

I am a gentleman in my 70s living in the Cimla area. I have an acquired brain injury which affects my memory and concentration.
I struggle to retain information and have to be repeatedly reminded and prompted.

I am an active man and enjoy going out and about in the community, eating out and walking.

I am able to get home independently but do have a tracking device so I can be found if I’m late home.

I am very sociable and enjoy attending social groups.



Tasks Include:

  • Taking me out to activities I enjoy
  • Supporting me to access the gym or to go walking
  • Facilitating social activities such as going to the pub and eating out.
  • Some prompting with personal care
  • Some support with getting ready to go out
  • Helping me stay safe in the community
  • Any other reasonable duties.



Personal Qualities and Attributes required:

  • Is understanding, patient and supportive
  • Someone who will be able to prompt and encourage me
  • Someone reliable, trustworthy and organised
  • Someone able to work flexibly and who can provide cover on occasion.
  • Someone proactive and who can work on their own initiative
  • Someone who will treat me with dignity and respect.
  • Some experience in this type of work would be an advantage.

Additional Information:

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by the Local Authority), and if requested by the employer, two satisfactory references. This post is subject to a trial period.

(Those posts working with children a DBS is a mandatory requirement which will need to be completed prior to commencement of the post).

Wages will be paid on a monthly basis (National Insurance Number required). You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement.

You may be required to undertake identified training relative to the post.
