Working closely with category directors, the Global Sustainability team, suppliers, and industry bodies; the Director will be critical in both helping setting the strategic direction and interpreting it for each of the categories and commodities. In this role you will be responsible for: Strategy Development Working closely with the VP Sustainability, translate the global sustainability ambition in to a clear and succinct procurement strategy that will deliver the sustainability ambition within the 2030 horizon. Define the systems, technology, and supporting organisational structures required to deliver the sustainability ambition Strategy Execution Partnering with both the category directors and the relevant business stakeholders, lead the development of the Category Sustainability strategies (as an addition/amendment to the category strategy). As part of this, ensure that each strategy delivers a path to supply chain transparency, has a clear value case, and has a clear roadmap for completion Where suppliers are identified as being critical to the delivery of the ambition, work with the relevant business stakeholders (customers) and category team to implement targeted engagement programmes, including sourcing, supplier performance management, or cross industry partnering. Partnerships Represent GSK in relevant procurement industry forums, developing relevant partnerships and collaborations to progress both the strategy development and strategy implementation. Lead the creation of key partnerships with peers and partners who face similar sustainability problems in key areas in order to collaboratively tackle critical industry challenges. Reporting & Policy Lead the development and implementation of the reporting standard and system to: Assess the progress towards delivering the sustainability ambition Assess category by category delivery against set targets Ensure suppliers are meeting agreed upon targets and pathways to net zero Develop and implement the supplier policy framework, including the development of contractual standards, audit rights, and transparency provisions Communication & Training Develop the procurement capability framework for sustainability, ensuring the development of both short and long term training and learning programmes for the organisation. Basic Qualifications and skills: University Degree in Sustainability, Finance, Procurement or Supply Chain preferred Demonstrated expertise in sustainability as it pertains to Procurement Considerable experience in leading complex sourcing initiatives from strategy through to contract negotiation and completion. Demonstrated significant experience in managing projects across geographies with consideration of diverse of categories Prior experience of team management including remotely Skilled negotiator adept at managing complex negotiations at management level with both external and internal stakeholders. Project and Change management experience with strong leadership and team development. Preferred Qualifications and skills: Master’s Degree/MBA/MCIPS Distinctive people leadership/management skills, both downward and upward Develop and present persuasive arguments to deliver change and influence stakeholders (ability to lead and influence without authority). Use of Strategic Thinking to build relationship (with stakeholders and suppliers) Proven sourcing expertise in diverse spend categories Ability to plan strategies & lead high level negotiations for long term and/or multi-countries high value contracts We make and supply medicines and vaccines all around the globe and our teams own every production stage, from creating quality products at our manufacturing sites to designing effective supply forecasting and regulatory inspections; all powered by digital, data and analytics.
