Job Description Details
The Director of Platform Engineering will lead both Platform Engineering and Enablement/shared services teams (4 managers, about 25-30 engineers) The Platform Engineering teams are responsible for all engineering aspects of the following platforms/applications:
- Global SAP in Azure (both US end EU) and legacy SAP
- UK OMS/enterprise systems (ISS)
- Germany/Italy OMS/enterprise systems (Q-Systems)
- Has end-to-end responsibility in partnership with other teams for the runtime environments of different enterprise applications to insure their stability, performance, compliance and resilience.
- Understand business problems to design, build and oversee the deployment and operation of technology architecture, solutions and software to utilize structured and unstructured data.
- Provide engineering support to the different value streams, establish visibility into work required and dependencies to support value stream initiatives and increase our agility to deliver.
- Establish processes, automations, structure and big data systems based on business and technical requirement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (Business owners, Architects, Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, and others) in the creation of solutions for complex problems.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation and collaboration in the team.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- Exstentive relevant technical experience, with significant experience in a leadership role, preferably managing global teams.
- Strong analytical skills, able to work independently to solve complex engineering problems.
- Make independent judgments/decisions within established guidelines
- Communicate well with others both verbally and in writing and be able to effectively interact with peers, management and other outside contacts
- The ability to gather and understand business requirements, translate them into technical/operational requirements
- High degree of initiative and sense of urgency, comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis
