Location:Poole, with some agile working

We are working in partnership with a well-respected hospice care organisation, who support those living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses through non-pharmaceutical and holistic treatments across Dorset. Their dynamic 3-year strategy aims to bring care ‘closer to home,’ serving more patients, especially in rural areas, by opening satellite Day Hospices and clinics in East Dorset and Purbeck, to complement their main site in Poole.

They are seeking a Director and Finance and Operations, who will be key to ensuring that operations and finances are fit for purpose for a sustainable future. The postholder will be a member of the hospice’s Executive Team, contributing to and sharing responsibility for the strategic direction, management and control of the hospice’s finances and related operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, the postholder will lead the Operations and Finance teams, ensuring processes, controls, financial vision, and legal compliance are in place for the long-term financial viability of the charity.

The Successful Candidate Must Be Able To Demonstrate
  • Educated to degree level with an accountancy qualification (ACCA or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years working in a senior Operations or Financial role.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, estates/facilities management and contracts management.
  • Previous exposure to audit procedures, project management, governance and risk management processes is desirable.
  • Previous experience of working in the charity or healthcare sector is not essential but advantageous.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on individual, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritise a varied workload and able to delegate work effectively, while working collaboratively with internal teams and stakeholders. You will be IT proficient, especially in Excel, with excellent attention to detail, with the ability to explain complex ideas with clarity to different audiences.
