We are seeking a Director to cover a maternity period of between 6-12 months. The role will be to drive deeper integration across the group’s disciplines and continue to find the best ways to market and monetise these modern marketing services. Your job will be to lead a client with revenues of £1-2m, and drive forwards an integrated solutions with leaders within each discipline to find the most effective creative solutions. Orchestrating and oversee highly strategic, best-in-class work to deliver success through ideas that are insight driven, earned in their origination and able to catch fire across the paid and owned space.
You will have a highly entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrating leadership, initiative and creativity and able to take calculated risks whilst embracing the realities of operating in a fast-paced, ever-changing and sometimes uncertain landscape. Anchored to clients such as IKEA, Director, your primary responsibility will be to lead and mentor matrixed teams and have the gravitas and knowledge to provide strategic business and communications’ counsel to senior clients within existing and prospective businesses.
Reporting to the MD, success in this role is demonstrated through transformative, integrated client work, and future-proofing our communications marketing service offerings, to stay ahead of the curve in a competitive communications market.

In this role, working in collaboration with a broad range of senior partners from client teams, practices and creative and digital services, you will take a lead in the following areas:

Integrated marketing – Specifically having demonstrable global and UK expertise in successfully harnessing the value of influence for world-famous brands, within the earned, paid and owned environment
Entrepreneurial mindset– Demonstrably embracing new innovations, technologies, and practices to deliver stand-out results
Brand strategy-development – Driving award-winning campaigns for large companies
Digital/social influencer strategy and programme execution – High quality oversight and impeccable client-servicing
Team leader – Experienced in working well in a highly matrixed organization
New business development – Leading teams to deliver success in this area
Global client management – Delivering success for brands with a global footprint
Deadline-Driven and goal-oriented – Working in a very fast-paced environment
You will be responsible for the upstream planning, strategy and programming for key accounts to yield innovative and award-winning campaigns that have global resonance, build equity and/or drive preference.
You will also be able to master and represent well Edelman resources, IP and expertise to solve client brand challenges.

Specific job requirements - Working in collaboration with the wider leadership team, we will expect you to:

    • Strategy
    • Work with partners to develop a business strategy to drive revenue growth for London – building on an already strong portfolio of accounts through both organic growth and new brand acquisitions
    • Architect of a ‘client-first’ approach, blending agency-wide talents to deliver against client briefs – including working with Planners, Digital Specialists, Creatives and Designers – against multi-practice revenue targets

    • Innovation & Work
    • Deliver game changing programmes and ideas for all clients, elevating Edelman’s creative achievements and reputation within the influencer space; recognised by winning high value awards e.g. Cannes Lions
    • Bring innovation and fresh thinking through specific briefs but also proactively against commercial priorities
    • Set and maintain a high standard for creative thinking and quality execution
    • Instil and drive a sense of progression and innovation through the wider teams, ensuring that the integrated Edelman team are advancing industry leading practice and new thinking

    • Business Development & Client Relations
    • Demonstrate deep sector and client business knowledge to deliver high-value strategic client counsel that yields consistently high scores in client satisfaction – both anecdotal and on formal reviews
    • Drive effective, high quality, collaborative responses to RFPs and other briefs
    • Demonstrate an ability to pitch and win business
    • Working with Planners and the Edelman Intelligence team, ensure insights and analytics are at the core of all our work

    • Operations
    • Help develop a top talent retention strategy and actively participate in attracting and reviewing new hires
    • Work with senior members of the London Brand team to ensure optimal team design and structure across teams for both high quality delivery and efficiency
    • Be responsible for finances, including accurate scoping, forecasting and capacity planning
    • Support and coach account leads in devising and managing projects
    • Ensure appropriate client authorisations are received prior to beginning the work
    • Understand different pricing structures and how they work (e.g., hourly versus retainer); drive advocacy for the best model per account
    • Make sure time, expenses and Purchase Orders are accurate and approved in a timely manner
    • Senior Leadership
    • Act as a champion amongst the Edelman senior management team and work collaboratively at this level to deliver company priorities
    • Deliver cross practice and agency wide programmes
    • Represent your team and the company at key external marketing events, to support new business initiatives and to recruit top talent
    • Responsible for the career-pathing and team and line-management with the brand team
