Director Crisis & Continuity Management

This is an exciting opportunity to join GSK in a newly created role as a Director Crisis & Continuity Management.

Director, Crisis & Continuity Management (CCM) will report to Director, Global Security & Resilience within Corporate Security & Investigations (CSI).

This new role will lead and assure GSK’s recently updated enterprise program for crisis & business continuity across the Group. It will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of an evolved risk-proportionate framework focused on enabling resilience to minimize operational downtime and reputational impact to GSK. It will provide business leaders with the necessary flexibility to develop and manage operational plans in line with their business unit specific processes and priorities, whilst building operational resilience by providing appropriate CCM tools to enable leaders to protect GSK’s people, places and products from significant business interruptions. It will be responsible for optimising CCM risk management practices across the Group whilst leading and influencing the global CCM Community of Practice.

The role requires senior level expertise across multiple skills and capabilities such as Leadership, Service Delivery, Influencing and a deep knowledge and expertise in Crisis and Business Continuity Management from both the strategic and operational perspectives. The role will be directly responsible for senior stakeholder management across the organization to build trust and ensure the provision through others of an effective, pragmatic and risk-proportionate CCM program in support of GSK’s risk priorities.

Your responsibilities:

  • Execute and continuously improve the CCM service delivery and performance strategy complementary to GSK’s Innovation, Performance, Trust (IPT) and Legal & Compliance (L&C) objectives in order to protect and enable GSK’s people, places & products.

  • Provide both crisis & ISO 22301 Business Continuity subject matter expertise, assurance, strategic insights and program analytics to Senior Leaders (incl. Risk Oversight & Compliance Committee (ROCC)) in support of global readiness levels and GSK’s Internal Control Framework.

  • Build trust with employees, business partners and external peers to ensure GSK’s CCM framework remains pragmatic, risk-proportionate and effective in mitigating significant business disruptions &/or reputational impact.

  • Work with senior levels of management and executive partners across all business units to develop innovative solutions to build capability, operational resilience and reduce the risk of significant business disruptions &/or reputational impact.

  • Provide guidance and thought leadership to consistently review CCM service management policies, guidelines and processes in collaboration with peers and business partners ensuring service enhancements that proactively reduce risk to the organization from crisis events based upon operational after-action reviews, lessons learned, customer feedback.

  • Lead key change management initiatives as required to ensure the provision of a continuously improving CCM enterprise framework and associated tools.

  • Provide inspirational leadership and CCM oversight to Corporate Security Regional Heads of Security in their delivery of timely, prioritized, high value-add CCM services aligned to business and risk priorities as defined by ROCC to protect the assets and employees of GSK globally.

  • Proactively strengthen the culture related to CCM activities through ongoing training and awareness initiatives whilst providing inspirational leadership to promote the sharing and implementation of best practice across GSK’s CCM Community of Practice.

  • Support Group executive level CCM activities to crisis readiness and response

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with extensive crisis & business continuity risk management work experience (10-15 years) in a variety of large global corporation and military/law enforcement public sector services

  • Minimum of 5 years which have demonstrated leadership and the ability to manage across a matrix organization

  • Minimum of 10 years Program & Service Delivery experience

  • Deep knowledge of ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management framework & processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master in Crisis & Continuity Risk Management or equivalent

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills are essential to work with diverse internal & external global contacts

  • Clear understanding of Management Frameworks to coordinate standards and procedures

  • Proven experience in planning and coordination

  • Strong experience of senior level briefing / influencing

  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and facilitation skills
