The Council is seeking to recruit to a full time Direct Payment Support Officer to deliver services in the Goole & Howden area and to support colleagues across the East Riding of Yorkshire. A mixture of home working and office work is available; home working is currently in place under government guidelines.
We are looking for a self-motivated and well organised individual with experience of working with vulnerable adults. The role is to promote independence for users of adult social care by supporting them to use and manage cash personal budgets through direct payments. This will include advice and support on direct payment budgets to service users and to staff working in community wellbeing teams and in community mental health teams.
The overall aim is to ensure that service users are good employers and manage their direct payments responsibly and lawfully. Through Direct Payments a service users will be assisted to exercise full choice and control, to encourage independence by being empowered to become as fully self-supporting as possible.
A good knowledge of Adult Services is desirable.
The successful candidate will possess good interpersonal and communication skills, be adaptable and able to manage a varied and complex workload with a minimum of supervision. Effective time management will be essential as will a good level of computer skills.
