The organisation is Head of Establishment (HoE) for the UK Defence Training Estate, provides direct training support to UK Armed Forces and wider MOD, in addition to supporting Cadets, Over Government Departments and Foreign Armed Forces. We provide these services overseas in Germany, Canada, Kenya and Belize, where we are not HoE. OS&Trg lead all aspects of the provision of a Training Estate that is of the right size and standard against the endorsed need, fit for purpose, safe, well led, balanced and critical to social and environmental considerations. OS&Trg also provides infrastructure support DIO Regional Delivery Overseas and Training (OS&Trg) provides a range of infrastructure and training support functions across the UK and overseas. OS&Trg also provides infrastructure support functions in the Permanent Joint Operating Bases (PJOB) and Far East. This encompasses Cyprus, Gibraltar, the Falkland Islands, Ascension Island, Nepal, Brunei and Singapore.We are the forerunners for the military training estate in Wales and West Midlands, ensuring safe place of the training estate by making available to the customer safe and compliant infrastructure.The Logistics Support Officer (LSO) is the lead on Logistics and full accounting of equipment and assets across the region, accountable to the Commander of the Region.Crucially, the LSO provides full support on all MOD Transport, fuels and equipment matters. The LSO is the focal point for logistical audits and inspections including those conducted by the Defence Safety Authority.They will collaborate closely with Training Safety Officers, the Industrial Partner and other External Agencies to maintain logistical support towards the main aim of safe place support within the region. They will also be responsible for local purchase and procurement with use of an issued purchase card for which they are accountable.Person specificationDutiesAs the LSO their duties will include, but not be limited toThe successful candidate will need to have a keen mind, be hard-working and diligent so that they can provide the critical service that will help the region provide its crucial outputs.
  • Motor Transport Management. Liaison with fleet supplier. Management of the computer based vehicle maintenance / hire system. Ensure all vehicle users are authorised / trained / proficient to use the vehicle fleet. Responsible to HOE for all transport issues within region.
  • Computer system (currently MJDI) and stores management, including range stores. Ensure all demands are authorised/ accounted for using the current systems. Carry out regular audits and run local purchasing when stores are unavailable. Maintain a regional database of issued equipment and back-load and dispose of equipment.
  • Lead on the management of regional Logistics and Equipment examinations. Brief / liaise with Safety Officers to ensure all internal / external managerial responsibilities are met to the required inspection standard.
  • Head Fuel/POL/DSEAR within region.
  • Coordination of inspections / actions / meetings and follow-up action following inspection. Liaison with Fuel & Lubricants Manager and Fuel & Lubricants Operators.
  • Logistics Local Purchase.
  • Management of electronic purchase (eGPC) of logistics material.
  • IT Regional Support and Delivery. Assist the Regional Co-ordinator with IT procurement & accounting for new and departing personnel.
