The Course Is Intended To Equip Graduates With a Relevant Range Of Network And Infrastructure Related Skills And Support Them Through a Digital And Technology Solutions Degree And Will Include The Following Modules

You will study towards a BEng (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions.

  • Server and storage infrastructure design principles
  • Network solution architecture
  • Principles of infrastructure architecture
  • Database design and management principles
  • Product life cycle management principles and implementation
  • Infrastructure support principles
  • Test Automation and Control principles and deployment
  • Cable infrastructure architecture and implementation principles.
  • COTS product use cases and deployment scenarios
  • Radio Systems
  • Requirements capture processes
  • Service transition and delivery modelling

The Digital and Technology Solutions degree is four years, based on two days per week at University and three days a week applying your knowledge as part of the Airbus team.

While on site in Blandford with the team, you will be part of a skilled infrastructure development group which is part of our change delivery team responsible for the identification and delivery of all new capabilities within the Land Systems Reference Centre (LSRC). The LSRC is a land command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) test centre that was established in 2000 which provides the MoD with a through life ‘Systems of Systems’ test and reference service for deployable land environment communications and information systems (CIS).

The infrastructure development team is recognised for its hard work, dedication and high quality service delivery work that has resulted in the introduction of new technologies to deliver real productivity benefits to the LSRC. The team undertakes research and analysis of new infrastructure technologies and how they could be deployed within the LSRC and how these would benefit our MOD customer and the wider Airbus business. The outcome of this work is incorporating these technologies into the design, development and support of state-of-the-art test capabilities and deployable environments to meet the varied challenging situations that solutions produced by the LSRC operate within.

What You Will Be Doing

You will work with the Senior Infrastructure Engineers and will undertake 4-6 month tasking’s on a variety of complex and challenging projects delivering state of the art network and infrastructure to both LSRC and Airbus customers with diverse requirements. Wherever possible, these rotations will align with your course modules so you have the opportunity to bring your learnings to life.

In addition to the support provided by your line manager and University teams, you will also be assigned a ‘mentor’ who will support you through day-to-day work activities.

Tasks

  • Use and develop your skills to allow you to design, discuss and review customer solutions using requirements gathered.
  • Use and develop your skills to allow you to implement your designs.
  • Be involved in the test of our products technical capabilities within a representative system environment.
  • Support demonstrations of our products and technologies to (for example) internal and external customers.

Skills

In order to be eligible for this exciting apprenticeship opportunity, you must have a minimum of;

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including Grade 4/C in English and Mathematics
  • A-Level (or equivalent) in Maths and at least one further STEM based subject such as Physics, ICT, Computing or Electronics
  • Or equivalent qualifications

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • A keen interest in telecommunications systems, their technologies and allied subjects such as Information Security
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
