The WSCC Digital Infrastructure Team is a highly skilled and specialist team operating across local and central government as well as directly with the commercial telecommunications market.


This post supports the DI Team by providing day to day support and management of information. Specifically, it provides support to all Project Managers in all project governance and documentation. You will collect, co-ordinate and analyse any management information required and be responsible for maintaining and change control of project documents.


You will support the team’s data manager by using mapping tools and maintain data capture across all workstreams to inform decision making and support the development of connectivity approaches applied by the team. You will plan and assist in the development and staging of a variety of events, including meetings, workshops, partner and stakeholder events and Member briefings.


You will also be a point of contact for the public making enquiries about connectivity plans and assist the team to deal with a volume of correspondence ensuring that messaging is consistent, and enquiries are dealt with in a timely way. You may also plan and manage a number of small, related, projects in line with your development within the team.


Experience and Skills

  • Be responsible for providing effective and efficient day to day support to the Project Manager including, collating and analysing statistics for the ongoing monitoring of project performance/progress. Monitor and plan available resources.

  • Keep records up to date, provide detailed progress reports and ensure that all project information is collected, maintained and archived according to acceptable project management standards.

  • Exercise ability to interpret complex information for e.g. to produce a high quality document with minimal guidance. Also the ability to organise, plan and meet set deadlines. For example, write project definitions in order to develop plans and manage progress against plans to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Receive project information from Project Managers for all new projects and ensure that these are added to the relevant project database(s).

  • Receive all requests for changes to current projects, ensuring that these are made in accordance with the Project Management Frameworks.

  • Evaluate the impact of proposed changes, including impact on scope of the project, resource requirements, risks and project costs. Based on this information provide a report to the Project Manager advising on whether the changes should be accepted.

  • Devise and implement mechanism for ensuring that requests for project information from the business are responded to and provided in a timely manner.

  • Write and present various reports e.g. budget summaries, highlight reports RAG (red/amber/green) project status. Create and maintain various project record documents such as “Risk Register” and “Issues Log”. Highlight potential project risks and issues to the Project Manager if identified in the plan. Reporting on progress as required.

  • Arrange, organise, and set up seminars, workshops, briefings etc. Assist in the specification of the materials for the events. Prepare the materials, including Powerpoint presentations. Provide assistance at seminars, workshops as required, e.g. set-up, host, act as facilitator, produce records etc.

  • Communicate with and develop good working relationships with a range of people, such as clients, senior managers, key project contacts in order to provide project related information relative to project progress, whilst ensuring continuous sharing of information across different stakeholders of the project. Liaise with Project Managers and Project Sponsors to identify and gaps where project documentation is not complete or does not conform to Project Management Standards.

  • Be responsible for using appropriate I.T. tools to monitor and manage project processes and monitoring.

  • Be responsible for coaching colleagues and clients in project support e.g. how to complete processes or documentation.

  • Carry out regular budget monitoring for Projects using Financial Services systems. Keep accurate and current records of commitment and expenditure against large budgets, to ensure clients remain on target and within spend and enable Project Managers to make informed decisions.

  • Be responsible for paper and electronic information and deliverables for projects which are being monitored, where accuracy and confidentiality is paramount.
