About Us


Hammonds is a Residential Care home providing personal care to 15 people who live with a learning disability and/or other health conditions. The service can support up to 20 people as we also offer short stays.

Hammonds accommodates 15 people across three separate buildings, each of which has separate adapted facilities. One of the buildings has four rooms catered for people who stay at the home for short breaks on a respite basis.

About The Job


Salary:
Grade 6 £20,903 to £22,183 pro rata
Working Pattern:Full time 37 hour and part time 18.5 hours
Contract Length:Secondment (Full time 2 years, Part time 9 months)
Location: Bognor Regis

We are looking for dynamic, motivated individuals who can support the management and senior team, supporting the services into the future with a focus on empowering, enabling people to maximise their potential and build and develop their strengths, life skills, choices and control about their everyday life in a Residential Care setting.

Residential Care does not mean you lose control over your lives; we are here to listen; communicate effectively and efficiently and learn from the people we support and care for.

The role is key in ensuring the delivery of care and support is effective, efficient, caring safe and responsive. The Shift Coordinator has a lead role in having an oversight relating to people’s health, moving and handling needs, administrating medication, undertaking risk assessments, keeping peoples support plans up to date and accurate and being there for advice and guidance to the support worker team.

You will hold an appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care or demonstrable experience. You will have demonstrable experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and people who have dementia, people who transition from children into adult services.

Having access to a car is essential as you will be required to travel and feel confident to drive a minibus as and when required following the require training and assessment.

The working pattern will be shift work, comprising of early and late shifts and there will be up to 4 sleep in duties within a 4-week period, plus additional cover where there are staffing pressures. We work on a 7-day rota including weekend working.


Experience and Skills


Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable previous experience of working with vulnerable adults, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Experience of creating assessments and plans for individual customers.
  • Experience of working with adults with disabilities.
  • Experience of working within a team, in order to deliver a high level of customer service and achieve set targets.
  • Good understanding of the needs of the customer group, including knowledge of disability issues and the needs of older people

Qualifications and/or experience:

  • NVQ 2 in Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Training in different forms of communication, for example Makaton, SCIP, etc.
