The Role

We are one of the UK and Ireland’s leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors, looking to appoint a Digital Construction Manager to play a pivotal role in driving McLaughlin & Harvey’s digital construction strategy to support Pre-Construction and Operation activities on a wide range of Building and Civil Engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of a Digital Construction Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Digital Construction Strategy to include identifying appropriate hardware and software for use on McLaughlin & Harvey projects.
  • Actively promote the use of digital technologies with our internal teams.
  • Develop and deliver training / CPD sessions on BIM for our internal teams.
  • Assist the tender submission team with responses on BIM for PQQs / Tenders.
  • Liaise with appointing party to ascertain their exchange information requirements (EIR).
  • Liaise with appointing party to ascertain the project’s information standards and the project’s information production methods and procedures and incorporate these into Mclaughlin & Harvey’s BIM execution plan (BEP) & discipline specific EIRs as required.
  • Assist in the setup of CDE for live projects.
  • Liaise with consultants and supply chain to assess their BIM capability and capacity.
  • Assist the commercial team on the appointment of consultants and supply chain as required.
  • Chair BIM start-up / progress meetings on live projects as required.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the delivery strategy for Asset Information Model and COBie on projects.
  • Take the lead on model management & clash analysis on live projects as required.
  • Report on progress, status and quality of delivery team models on projects.
  • Create geometry using 3D authoring software (Revit) on projects as required.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Digital Construction Manager are:

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in architecture, engineering or construction.
  • The applicant will need to demonstrate their knowledge on the implementation of BIM in the UK using the framework provided by BS EN ISO 19650 series.
  • Previous experience in the use of: Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong IT and creative presentation skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict timescales.
  • Time management and prioritising workload.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Team player.
