Job Description

As part of our Vision 2024 Calderdale are looking to recruit an enterprising Development Manager, to help us move our services forward. The post holder will manage, deliver and develop the Development Management Service in accordance with the Council’s priorities to ensure a policy led, financially disciplined customer focussed service.

The post holder will play a key role implementing the emerging Calderdale Local Plan that is currently at Examination; be responsible for identifying the need for change; and improving the efficiency, management and quality of services concerning planning applications, enforcement cases, and appeals. The will including leading on relevant strategies and controlling a budget and resources as required. The post holder will also come into contact with a range of stakeholders, including elected Members and will need to be able to establish credibility quickly.

We would welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate experience of working in a similar role while managing staff. It is essential that applicants hold a relevant qualification at degree level and have demonstrable experience of complex negotiations associated with major development schemes.
