Key Responsibilities

This leadership role in Software Development is key to the continued growth of the software development teams providing high quality software to the Retail industry. This is an opportunity to guide the development department, setting standards and encouraging best practice to create innovative software solutions, helping keep our customers ahead of the curve.

A Development Manager plans, directs, and coordinates all activities related to writing software programs. You must be familiar with all the policies, procedures and technical issues related to software programming.

The Development Manager will report directly to the Chief Technical Officer and responsibilities will cover:
Driving the continuous improvement of software development activities of the development department Nurturing cohesion and collaboration between the teams Developing individual team leads within the development teams through effective coaching, mentoring and general people management, with a view to maximising the capability of internal talent Streamlining development processes and effectively resolving project issues, utilising a collaborative approach to problem solving Liaising with senior management, stakeholders, product managers, project managers and support Liaising directly with development teams to ensure quality standards. Keeping up to date with best practice and bringing new best practice guidance to the team

Other Aspects Of The Role

This role will be primarily based at our office in Waterlooville, Hampshire however there may be client facing work throughout the week and opportunities for remote working.

Travel to and from customer meetings or potential clients may also be necessary, therefore a full driving licence, access to a vehicle and ability to travel is essential. This may also include travel to shows and conferences where applicable.

You are expected to work with the minimum of supervision and may be expected to deal with other duties appropriate to your skill set and abilities.

Skills/experience Required -

Great written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills Able to communicate effectively with colleagues, both technical and non-technical Exceptional troubleshooting skills Excellent IT skills Efficient time management and the ability to meet agreed targets Exception reporting and KPIs Familiar with a variety of programming languages, codes and processes Knowledge of Jira Agile coaching Proven work experience in a similar role Experience managing development teams Software development experience
This role is to start ASAP and will pay between £35,000 - £50,000 per annum, Dependent on skills and experience
