Overview:

We have built an innovation team and have several exciting innovations in the pipeline and we serve a dynamic market with lots of new opportunities. At bigHead, the Development Engineer leads the technical development of the solution and its associated processes to a market ready state. It is a very dynamic and collaborative role involving daily interaction with team members, customers and external partners internationally. The role requires drive, organization and the ability to get the best out of a range of people in different roles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project manage innovations to market readiness, meeting commercial and technical goals
2. Identify opportunities for product or process improvements
3. Provide technical expertise and support to sales and business development
4. Supervise other team members and tasks as appropriate
Key Tasks:
1. Develop innovations to market readiness in line with bigHead’s innovation process
2. Ensure development activities are well organised and updated on relevant systems
3. Liaise with external partners in the solution development; UK & Int’l travel is involved
4. Keep up to date with latest market trends and developments
5. Participate in various meetings and complete administrative duties as necessary
6. Provide leadership and expertise to resolve product or process issues internally or at the customer
Key Skills & Experience
1. Managing complex projects with competing priorities and pressures
2. Engineering or Material Science experience in product development, ideally in composites or adhesives
3. Experience in applying analytical skills to practical cases
4. Good practical capabilities; testing, prototyping and evaluation activities
5. Ability to structure test programmes and report information in a clear and concise format
6. Expert user of Microsoft Office
7. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
9. Excellent time management, organisation and prioritization skills
10. Self-driven with a desire to complete tasks accurately and in full
11. Ability to set-up and carry out Design of Experiment (DOE) would be a plus
12. Qualification in 6-sigma would be a plus
