Job Title:Lead Design Manager (superstructure & façade)Location: Blyth
Job Purpose
- ISG have recently secured a £500m new build Battery Gigaplant project in Blyth. We are looking for a Lead Design Manager (superstructure & façade) to deliver a quality service and product to our Clients in line with the project goals by working with the professional team and applying ISG’s systems, procedures and culture, specifically for The Steel Superstructure and Façade works elements.
- Review the quality and completeness of the design produced by the Design Team and other IPD partners, and ascertain its ability to be built in accordance with both the cost plan, schedule and site Health & Safety requirements;
- To support the on-site construction team in the resolution of design related issues in a timely manner to prevent an affect on the construction programme and with awareness of the commercial implications the resolution may produce;
- To manage other Design Managers and Document Controllers on the project, to ensure that they are carrying out their task effectively and information is available to a high standard and in a timely fashion.
- The Lead Design Manager should review and incorporate design innovations within the design where benefit to the project can be made. There is a drive within the team to incorporate prefabrication and off-site manufacturing where possible to ensure both quality and programme are maintained.
- Attend site on a regular basis to ensure that the works are being constructed generally in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications and schedules;
- To identify commercial opportunity during the design management and effectively communicate and manage this information to the benefit of ISG and ensure instructions are raised and received accordingly;
- Represent ISG on design related Forums/Groups that define industry standards, best practices etc.
- Preferably has been involved in at least one large (£100m+) project;
- Prior construction/design management experience, Structural/Façade Engineering or M&E qualifications
- Industry experience - Track record of successfully delivering large scale industrial projects. Experience of Data centre projects is preferred, however is not a requirement;
- An ability to work with end users;
- Understanding of the detailed coordination requirements of the MEP/CSA elements of a large-scale industrial project;
- Prior knowledge of the BIM process and how this integrates with the Design Process;
- In-depth knowledge of the design and construction process. The approach to design on green/brown field sites, and the associated Civil Engineering requirements is a bonus;
- Understands the pre-construction process. Can organise and manage the design phase of a large-scale project, whilst also carrying out other tasks, such as tenders and reviews in other areas;
