6 Month Fixed Term Appointment

The Cyber & Information (C&I) Business Unit within QinetiQ is recruiting for a Fixed Term Contractor to cover the Deputy Financial Controller Role. The role involves providing Financial control, advice and support on multiple business projects ensuring accuracy, relevance and timeliness of the financial reporting. Provide high quality financial information for decision making purposes

Key Accountabilities:
1. Responsibility for ensuring that financial information within the C&I Business Unit is relevant, accurate and timely.

2. Producing month end, year end, forecasting and annual budget information.

3. Responsiblility for management accounting including variance analysis and contributing to the preparation of the monthly AP pack.

4. Ad hoc financial tasks and projects as required including support to the C&I FC and FD

5. Working closely and providing leadership and guidance across the Finance & Accounting Services Team to ensure that a seamless Finance service is provided to the C&I Business Unit.

6. Review and participate in the financial aspect of bids.

7. Heavy involvement in producing forecast and Budget models to suit reviews with C&I businesses.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience, Personal Qualities:
Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA or qualified by significant experience

Experience in producing monthly, year end and forecasting information for a significant size business unit either by you or as part of a team

Strong Excel skills and experience in the use of Hyperion reporting software and SAP is an advantage

Strong analytical skills as well as evaluative judgement based on the analysis of factual information

Ability to apply sound judgement, with a proactive & innovative approach to problem solving

Ability to make impartial priority calls and determine appropriate course of action, dealing with many different stakeholder views.

Good interpersonal communication and influencing skills.

Ability to proactively build relationships across the business to ensure that business objectives are achieved.

Able to explain financial information to non-finance people

Excellent networking skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Tenacious, persistent and have the ability to multi task

The ability to exercise sound judgement based on analysis of data and potential risk.
