A full-time (37 hours) Disclosure Co-ordinator post has arisen in the Wiltshire Police DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Unit to cover maternity leave until end of June 2022.

The DBS Unit plays a vital role in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in the workplace. The unit receives applications sent by the DBS Agency in Liverpool from people who wish to work with children and/or vulnerable adults. Police systems are then searched for relevant information relating to risk towards children and/or vulnerable adults.

The successful candidate must be competent in a range of software, including being able to accurately and efficiently research a range of databases. High levels of sustained concentration and investigative initiative are required when analysing, evaluating and interpreting police reports in order to identify behaviour of concern. This challenging and rewarding role involves assessing, exercising judgement and making decisions in accordance with legislation and nationally agreed guidance.

Effective communication skills are also essential, as the post holder will be required to deal with other units within the force, other police forces, applicants and a variety of outside safeguarding agencies.

The post holder must be a highly motivated, target-driven person who will be able to manage and prioritise their workload dynamically without close supervision.

PLEASE NOTE - ALL APPLICATIONS FOR SECONDMENTS MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR 1ST AND 2ND LINE MANAGER. PLEASE FORWARD SUPPORT TO RECRUITMENT@WILTSHIRE.PNN.POLICE.UK BY THE CLOSING DATE. ANY APPLICANTS THAT HAVE NOT PROVIDED SUPPORT WILL NOT BE PROGRESSED.

Please ask your managers to include a potential release date in their support emails. This is for planning purposes only.

Where a candidate’s Bradford score exceeds 192, specific reference should be made to it by their line manager with reasons as to why the application should be supported.
  • All vacancies advertised as secondment/fixed term have potential to go permanent in the future.
Wiltshire Police recognise the importance of our employees’ health, wellbeing and work life balance. Where possible we endeavour to accommodate the needs of our staff and welcome applications for those wanting a more flexible approach to working patterns.
