Reporting to the Head of Data Privacy, the Data Protection Compliance Manager will support Lookers PLC and its subsidiary companies in meeting regulatory obligations and managing data protection risks.
The role holder will provide expert advice and guidance to the business, supporting the organisation and inspiring confidence across the business to maintain the privacy of our data and uphold the rights of individuals so that we can provide an outstanding retail experience and remain trusted by our customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Supports the Head of Data Privacy involving all matters concerning data protection compliance.
Provides subject matter expertise to assist with the development, communication and review of data protection policies and standards, assisting in design and development of processes and controls to manage data privacy.
Manages the processing of individuals rights and requests to ensure the data protection rights of our customers and employees.
Supports the response to and investigation of data protection, information and cyber security incidents and complaints affecting personal data.
Manages privacy by design processes including advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments and undertaking Legitimate Interests Assessments
Provides training and awareness across the group including to key areas such as Marketing, HR and Health and Safety Teams
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with practical experience in an equivalent role managing data protection compliance and risks.
They will be an experienced data protection practitioner with strong knowledge of the legislation (including the GDPR, DPA and PECR) and the practical application of data protection compliance within a large organisation.
A strong communicator, they will have experience managing relationships at all levels, and have managed data protection complaints and data breach incidents to help minimise impacts on individuals and the organisation.
A relevant data protection qualification from a recognised body (e.g. BCS Data Protection Practitioner Certificate or IAPP CIPP Certification) is essential.
Experience of a financial services/regulated environment in desirable.
