Data Governance Manager

As a Barclays Data Governance Manager you will deliver and execute a data governance and system strategy for Barclays Technology to enable the delivery of business value by driving improved consistency, reliability and quality of data across the firm. You will be responsible for the designing, sustaining and enhancing Barclays’ data governance. This includes data quality, how data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems.

What will you be doing?

  • You will become the key contact for data governance, data quality, data lineage and Authoritative Data Sources
  • Represent CDO office in all data meetings and forums and data management councils
  • Work with domain owners, Critical Data Element Owners, Chief Data Architect and System Owners to establish remediation plans
  • Understand business requirement to drive logical data definition and architecture
  • Support the design and build of the target state data architecture for the various Barclays Technology data domains and sub-domains and ensure data is fit for purpose
  • Document data path to/ from authoritative golden sources and catalogue metadata for Barclays Technology in the strategic toolsets
  • Become a champion for Data Lineage tool usage within Tech CDO and identify appropriate points in lineage to undertake DQ profiling activity
  • Act as the single point of contact for technology records management and ensure all records are in compliance with group standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Understanding of the basic concepts and purpose of data Principles, Policies, Standards and Guidelines, and how they should be applied/ mandated
  • Understanding of concepts of Relational Data-Base Management Systems (RDBMS); Big Data; Extract Transform & Load (ETL); Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics toolsets
  • Hands on experience on Visio and creation of data maps
  • Experience in effectively explaining data problems, proposals and rationale to collaborators and decision makers

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • TOGAF qualified and with a degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience of change management; coordinating multiple stakeholders through the full delivery cycle from conception to completion
  • Vast experience as a data architect developing both High Level and Low Level Designs with knowledge of Python data science machine learning stack
  • Effective Communication, communicating between the technical and the non-technical

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play.
