Join our new Data Centre of Excellence

It’s an exciting time at NFU Mutual, with several strategic change programmes in progress. Data is at the heart of these programmes. So, we’re introducing a new Data Centre of Excellence to drive our data strategy, make the right data accessible to the right people across the business and create a data literate organisation, so our people get the most value from data. It’s about harnessing the power of data to improve experiences for our people, our customers, and our business and you can play a key role.

About the role

As the Data Engineering Manager in our Data Centre of Excellence, you’ll lead the team to design, develop and deliver complex datasets that enable everyone at NFU Mutual to get value from our data.

Offering technical and delivery leadership, you’ll make sure your team delivers standardised, trusted data solutions that can be used for self-service, enabling people across the business to develop insights and make informed, data driven decisions. You’ll need to establish and develop effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels to understand their business area and the data they need to drive value and insight.

At the same time, you’ll give your team the technical leadership to design and build reliable, reusable datasets to meet common business challenges. This includes managing the assessment of data delivery backlogs and providing focus and direction to the team to ensure key stakeholders are clear on priorities and agreed milestones. You’ll also be a technical coach to your team and the wider NFU Mutual data community, advising on how to use business-ready data in line with relevant data standards and architectural principles. In all areas, you’ll strategically plan and sequence your team’s work to align with the wider needs of the business.

This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work-life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 80% of your hours from home.

This Data Engineering Manager role is known internally as a Platform Data Engineering Manager

About you

You easily combine your technical ability to build reliable data platforms, with the leadership skills to be a motivational mentor to your team. Naturally, you’re a confident communicator, with the presence to develop excellent working relationships at all levels across our business. To join our team, you must have:

  • Experience of delivering strategic data transformation within the insurance, financial services, or a regulated industry
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at senior levels
