We’re investing in and harnessing the power of big data and Cloud technology – collecting, storing, analysing and provisioning data in a more automated, real-time way. Our aim is to improve customer experience, increase conversion and upsell of product, and enable the business to make quicker, more effective decisions to further drive revenue. The Data Engineer plays an integral role in this.

About the role, the team and how we work:

Your role will naturally span a wide area, with key points including:

  • Create and maintain data architectures and pipelines that feed into the downstream systems including machine learning models and analytics within Azure.
  • Write performant code and easily identify and resolve optimisation issues within the existing codebase.
  • Design best practise orchestration solutions in Azure maintaining ATG’s security (i.e. utilising Key vault for orchestration)
  • Assist Data Scientists in systemising data analysis projects to be deployed into a production environment
  • Work in Azure including Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Bricks, Azure Data Factory etc.
  • Take responsibility for the performance of multiple environments and establish/deploy methods to reduce expenditure in Azure.
  • Work on a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Work on standard and event-based architecture.
  • Design solutions in line with the data platform roadmap/strategy.
  • Peer review developments providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including Data Scientists to decide on the best ways to structure and utilise our data.

Core Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong SQL expertise in (2017/2019)
  • tSQLt
  • commercial experience of RDMS using Kimball methodology
  • experience ingesting data from multiple sources in Azure and on prem
  • Strong Knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies
  • Able to design, build, test and maintain data management systems
  • Source control management Azure Dev Ops/GIT Hub
  • CI/CD deployment tools (e.g. Octopus)
  • Azure Architecture
  • experience/exposure to Microsoft Azure
  • Power BI Gateway
