WHAT TO EXPECT

Data Architects work as part of the Enterprise Data Solutions team within IT. Enterprise Data Solutions are responsible for Data and Analytics platforms in Jaguar land Rover, primarily the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and datalake. The team are responsible for the ingest of data from JLR source systems to the GCP data lake and the data engineering, curation, cataloguing and access control of business ready data sets for use by the Enterprise.

As the Data Architect you’ll be responsible for monitoring the creation data designs and solutions that meet JLR standards and governance procedures. This includes both structured and unstructured data. You’ll play an integral role in the solution delivery lifecycle, but also participate in more strategic enterprise architecture initiatives to identify and define the major kinds of information that support the business functions defined in the enterprise model.

The team provides Data Architecture support various projects as business needs arise. Current projects include development of a Vehicle Data Modeller, a Customer Master Data initiative and Vehicle (VIN) profitability. You’ll be involved in understanding the data requirements and creating data designs to meet these requirements. This will include extending the existing JLR Enterprise Data Model to support these projects and implementing it in the Data Access layer of the solution architecture. Your role will be concerned with Data Architecture for Analytics and Cloud based Data Hub for consumption by other applications.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities to include:

• 
  Enforces principles of best practice data design
• Work closely with the Strategy & Planning Information Management team to ensure information solutions meet the corporate strategic vision
• Understanding and development of reference architectures in the data and information space.
• Ensure that data is taken from the correct corporate sources
• Investigate data inconsistency and data quality issues with the relevant system and data owners
• Standardise the set and meaning of values for shared data attributes for JLR Reference data
• Resolve existing data related issues and tightly manage exceptions to enterprise architecture guiding principles
• Be involved in extending the use of JLRs Data Virtualisation toolset
• Be a champion of data quality and reuse across the organisation
• Contributes to the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Data Model and other key products
• Participates in IT Governance processes where necessary

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• 
  Advanced Information & Data Management and Data Analysis skills
• In depth knowledge and experience using architecture Methods and Tools
• Knowledge of Data Lake and Enterprise Data Warehouse principles
• Knowledge of key agile principles (Kanban, Scrum)
• Testing frameworks for data pipelines
• Enterprise Architecture frameworks (Zachman, TOGAF)
• Proven track record of successfully using technology to strategic business advantage and commercial benefit
