Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 2nd Line Cyber Security Engineer within Airbus Commercial in Newport.

The role of the 2nd Line Cyber Security Engineer is to complete engineering tasks for all SOC operational engineering activity.

The successful candidate will implement the transition of projects from the System Design team into SOC operations.

You will be required to ensure all SOC operational tasks are completed on time and work tickets updated/closed with satisfactory technical details included.

Because of the nature of work undertaken, persons are required to meet special nationality rules and therefore these vacancies are only open to sole British Citizens. If you meet this criteria you will also undergo security clearance vetting, if not already security cleared to a minimum DV level

Tasks and Accountabilities

The role requires a strong cyber security professional with a good technical and engineering skill set.

You Will Be Responsible For All SOC Engineering Activity

  • Escalation Point for all technical issues
  • Cyber toolset maintainer for operations
  • Supports change & release management activity
  • Support scheduled maintenance being delivered within SLA’s
  • Implements any customer on boarding activity
  • Toolset availability and capacity management review and escalation
  • Mentoring - Improve inter team development through mentoring, knowledge sharing, briefing and production of guides and incident scenarios. Show flexibility in developing knowledge of supporting areas and performing their responsibilities during times of operational needs.
  • Maintain currency in security concepts, tools and best practices
  • Engagement with the R&D Cyber Defence Centre for Airbus Cyber Solutions/Products

Skills And Experience

We are looking for someone with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of multiple SOC tooling including IDPS/Firewalls/SIEM/Email & Web Protection etc
  • Excellent understanding of network technologies
  • Demonstrate experience in leading/managing a team
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and fault find technical issues
  • Good understanding of Cisco technologies including routing and switching
  • Demonstrate an understanding of implementing and fault finding Firewall technologies including Cisco ASA/Check Point/Fortinet/Palo Alto Networks firewalls
  • Scripting and programming
  • 5+ years’ experience in SOC or cyber security fields
