Role
Customer Service Assistants contribute to the general work of the Admissions team, in particular answering the phone, responding to queries and redirecting queries as appropriate.
We are looking for two candidates to work part time, 18.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This role is for six months in the first instance.
Duties and responsibilities
•To participate in the interaction with prospective students, e.g. answer enquiries both by phone and email, promote and refer prospective students to specialist services as appropriate, perform and demonstrate functions and procedures as applicable.
•Accessing, and where necessary updating, student records on the student records system.
•Maintain the shared Admissions inboxes.
•To provide additional frontline cover as required.
•To comply with the requirements of relevant legislation, Institutional policy and departmental procedures.
•To participate in the provision of staff development activities and the training of other staff as required.
The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Head of Admissions.
Skills and experience
Education to GCSE level or equivalent
Experience of customer services work
Demonstrable interest in supporting learners in an HE environment
IT skills (experience of using both office applications and the Internet for information searching)
Able to cope with variety and range of tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
Experience of working in a team
Experience of databases
Good communication skills
Excellent organisational skills
Able to demonstrate adaptability
Enthusiastic, positive and proactive approach
Able to represent the department in a professional manner to customers
Ability to interact effectively with customers and colleagues
Able to work unsupervised
Able to commit to a regular pattern of work
Ability to adapt to technological advances in the workplace
