Credit Risk Modelling Manager

As a Credit Risk Modelling Manager you will work closely with the Head of Modelling and peers to spear-head the use of advanced analytic techniques in the credit risk modelling arena, utilising new techniques and open source software. The manager will provide focus and direction, training and expertise to a team of analysts and senior analysts in the UK and the Global Analytics Centre

Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Credit Risk Modelling Manager

In this role, you will:
  • Develop and improve credit risk decision models for use throughout the credit lifecycle. Comply with regulations and Group Risk standards on model development, documentation and model monitoring
  • Be the subject matter expert in machine learning / model development, providing knowledge across the department on advanced modelling methodologies, tools, processes and data
  • Delivery individually and through a project team to complete complex and, or basic objectives simultaneously, using own initiative, whilst also taking on and delivering additional ad-hoc objectives as required
  • Contribute to the profitability of the HSBC Group and minimise losses
  • Support and maintain strong relationships with in-country risk teams
  • Engage with and show understanding of the business operation in order to recognize and acknowledge change impacts, objectives, priorities, work pressures and constraints

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Background in Retail Banking preferably in Risk, Analytics, Customer Value Management or business performance
  • Background in building predictive models, preferably within credit risk
  • A keen interest and understanding of open source coding such as R and Python as well as experience in SAS.
  • Ability to lead a technical team of Modellers and Analysts, demonstrated in either prior line management experience or through leading and developing others.
The base location for this role is Sheffield/Birmingham/Leeds, with hybrid working options available.
