Office Angels are currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Council Tax Collection Officer for a 2 month fixed term contract in Exeter.

Job Title: Council Tax Collection Officer

Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week

Salary: £20,903 - £22,183 per annum

Location: Exeter

Start Date: ASAP

Length: 2 months

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing full customer advice and support in relation to Council Tax
  • Understanding Council Taxpayer financial circumstances and ability to pay
  • Offering sustainable payment arrangements to promote good payment behaviour
  • Making adjustments to the Council Tax charge as necessary
  • Dealing daily with Council Tax accounts in arrears and escalating recovery action when necessary
  • Working with colleagues across other Council teams on multiple debt collection issues
  • Dealing with all administrative tasks including dealing with all correspondence by email or the workflow system updating customer records as required

We are looking for someone who has previous experience of working in Council Tax collection and an understanding of the legal process and procedure in relation to the collection of Council Tax. The ideal candidate will be customer focused, have strong communication skills and the ability to form & maintain positive working relationships. You will be able to deal with challenging situations positively and professionally, have excellent accuracy skills, and an ability to work to deadlines.
