At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and rising star George Russell.

We’re pleased to announce a new Cost Analyst Industrial Placement opportunity. Reporting to one of the Senior Cost Analysts you will be supporting the Cost Analysis team with their cost cap compliance activities working closely with other Cost Analysts in the Design Office, Operations, the Race Team and the Finance Team. With the new Financial Regulations now firmly in place, it is essential that we remain financially sustainable and compliant, whilst maximising our cost efficiency. This is an ideal position for an inquisitive engineering student to gain valuable experience in the financial activities in the operational and engineering areas of a world leading motorsport team.

Key Accountabilities:

Being mentored by one of the Cost Analysts, you will:
  • Support the Cost Analysis Department as well as operational and technical areas with a variety of cost cap related activities. This will include:
    • Costing data quality improvements and data analysis
    • Process optimisation and automation
    • Cost reduction
    • FIA / Finance reporting
    • Non-F1 activities
  • Work with Finance and other Cost Analysts to ensure consistency of approach and methodologies, aligning processes and standardising practices.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the F1 Financial Regulations.
Candidate Profile:
  • The ideal candidate would have strong analytical skills, a sound working knowledge of operational activities and vehicle engineering
  • You must be confident with numerical analysis and have good communication and negotiations skills, to work well with different functions across the organization.
  • Process mapping and optimisation experience would be beneficial.
  • We are looking for a self-motivated, team player that is passionate about working for our team and has a winning mindset.
  • You should have the ability to build stakeholder relationships and be able to present complex information to a range of audiences.
  • You will be able to work independently and to strict deadlines.
Recruitment timings and process:

Typically, our Industrial Placements are for a thirteen-month period with an anticipated start date of 3 July 2023.

By the time the placement begins, you must have completed a minimum of two years at university, with at least one academic year of study remaining after your placement.

You will also complete an online application form including details of your academic study and relevant experience. Following your application, you will be emailed links to our online testing. The Hiring Manager will review your application and test scores and if successful you will be invited to attend a short video interview. The final stage will be an assessment centre to be held in late October / November. This may be virtual or in person. Due to the volume of applications, we only provide feedback to candidates who are invited to the final stage.

All assessments in the recruitment process are in English: this is the primary language used within the organisation and you will need a good command of it in the Industrial Placement role.
