The role will support the existing team within our Security Control Room and also support the wider Business Protection department with supporting security guarding on some of our local high profile sites. You will be responsible for the provision of a safe and efficient Security Service. Protect our people, assets and reputation and making best use of resources and pursuing continuous improvement. Lead, develop and champion the provision of high quality customer focused service by all security colleagues. Ensuring all physical and technological security measures are adequate and fully functioning. There will also be a requirement to support on site Security Teams across the portfolio of sites in the Midlands in general security duties.

The role will be based on a 48 hour weekly contract and will cover days, nights and weekend working.

Security Control Room Operator Responsibilities:

  • Manage and sustain a successful team to deliver on operational requirements 24/7.
  • Provide support to the Security Officers with check calls, incident reporting and handling out of hours rostering.
  • Ensure that all critical alarms are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the management of access control systems.
  • Assist in the training of team members.
  • Ensure that all incidents which occur in the course of your duties, are recorded and escalated where appropriate any outstanding actions are handed over prior to the end of duty.
  • Fully comply with GDPR with regards to control and disclosure of any information held by the Security Control Centre.
  • Monitor CCTV systems, access control and alarm detection systems.
  • Be the point of escalation out of hours in emergency scenarios.
  • Provide initial incident support / management as required.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary to the post.

Security Control Room Operator Requirements:

  • Relevant experience of working in a busy control room including CCTV operation and monitoring of computerised security systems / databases is desirable.
  • Proactive and professional approach to security.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to operate in a pressurised environment.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Experience in working as part of a team as well as individually.
  • Experience of active and re-active monitoring using CCTV.
  • SIA training in Public Space Surveillance is desirable.
  • Willingness to take any further appropriate training.

Security Support Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a courteous, professional and welcoming atmosphere for all clients, their representatives and visitors to the company.
  • Provide security for the clients and the buildings during and out of hours
  • To remain alert at all times and give consistent attention to all details of site security
  • To carry out regular visual and sensory patrols of all internal and external areas and report all concerns.
  • Monitor access to the premises and visitors via CCTV
  • Meeting the requirements of all company policies and practices
  • Effective recording of information / incidents from within the building / premises
  • Carrying out procedures to ensure effective service delivery
  • Gatehouse duties
  • To work with the Security manager to identify problems and achieve resolutions
  • To ensure a smooth and full handover of daily events to the security team
  • To utilise the patrol system to aid patrols for the security team
  • To utilise the electronic access control system effectively, to allow traffic control
  • To be involved in the planning and participation of weekly Duty Roster
  • To lead the site security team with the day to day site operations within all shifts

Candidates must:

  • Be SIA Licensed in accordance with the Security Industry Act 2001 (CP, DS or SG)
  • Be available to work a rotational shift working days, nights and weekends.
  • Have a 5 year checkable history to the standards required by BS.7858
  • Be of smart appearance
  • Punctual, Reliable & Flexible to meet business & client needs
