Your day-to-day focus will be on supporting our commercial contracting activities, including conducting contract reviews, drafting contracts and taking part in negotiations. You may also be required to provide ad-hoc advice on related legal matters with appropriate support and to provide contracts training to our commercial teams.You will be joining a large, friendly in-house team, with lots of support. You will work closely with other in-house lawyers across all Thermo Fisher businesses and various other functions such as R&D, Product Development, Commercial Licensing and Sales teams, IP and Procurement. We pride ourselves on providing excellent training resources and opportunities to all our Contracts Specialists.This is a permanent contract and is being offered as fully remote (working from home), based anywhere in the UK. Occasional travel within the EMEA region may be required.What will you do?- Review, draft and negotiate various commercial agreements
- Support and, where appropriate, lead negotiations with third parties and/or customers on these agreements
- Take an active role in the Team’s contract template standardisation, process improvement and contract automation strategy by participating in and/or leading certain relevant Team projects
- Consult with other parts of the organisation on the interpretation of agreements in effect or in development
- Educate and train employees on their role in contract negotiations and their obligations under the terms of various contracts and under applicable legal requirements
- Work with other members of the Global Legal team including Division Counsel as needed
- Holds a law degree in a UK jurisdiction or has at last three years’ experience in a contracts-focussed role. A good working knowledge of contract law
- Relevant experience in contract negotiation/drafting
- Strong commercial awareness and business sense, with ability to navigate the various issues surrounding contracts, technology and corporate structure
- Able to fully engage with and influence business partners
- Fluency in English essential
- Able to deal effectively and efficiently with a high-volume workload
